Meet Dr. Christopher Colbert, MD
Dr. Christopher Colbert is an Emergency Medicine physician, academic educator, and medical contributor with a distinguished career spanning clinical care, medical education, and public service. He is the former Assistant Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois and currently serves on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
A Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, Dr. Colbert holds leadership roles within national medical societies and maintains academic interests in sports medicine, medical education, and public health. He is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker, published author in emergency medicine textbooks and peer-reviewed journals, and a trusted medical voice for Chicago television and radio news outlets.
Dr. Colbert’s excellence in education and service has been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2024 AAEM Educator of the Year Award, the 2023 ACOEP Excellence in Education Award, the ICEP Meritorious Service Award, and the U.S. Army Humanitarian Service Medal. He was also named one of Chicago Crain’s Notable Healthcare Heroes and featured in Who’s Who in Chicago Medicine.
He lives in Chicago with his wife and three children and remains committed to advancing medicine through education, leadership, and meaningful public engagement.
